Q-PAC Multimotor Plenum Fan (MPF)
The Q-PAC MPF
One fan that beats the alternatives on three fronts
The Q-PAC Multimotor Plenum Fan is a genuinely new category. It isn’t a single-motor blower or a field-built fan array — it combines what’s best about both and eliminates the drawbacks of each. Here’s what that means in practice for your air handler.
Single Device Simplicity
One power run. One control point. One clean BMS connection. Traditional single-motor fans require a separately coordinated VFD; fan arrays need an external control panel just to make everything talk. The Q-PAC MPF builds the control architecture in — pre-wired, ready to connect, no extra panels or guesswork in the field.

100% Resilient Design
A single-motor fan has one motor, one impeller, one point of failure — when it goes down, so does your airflow. The Q-PAC MPF’s multimotor design distributes the load. If one motor fails, the Fan Controller ramps the remaining motors to maintain airflow. A built-in bypass keeps the fan running even if the controller itself faults. Hospitals, schools, and data centers can’t afford a fan taking a floor offline.

Verified Performance
Fan arrays are often sized using projections — scale up a single fan’s curve and call it good. That approach rarely accounts for system effect, and it falls apart when a motor fails. Q-PAC performance curves are based on real testing under real-world conditions, including system effect. When you spec an MPF, you’re working from data, not estimates you’ll have to correct later.

Where the Q-PAC MPF Is Specified
Built for every facility that can’t afford an air handler going down
The Q-PAC MPF is a commercial HVAC fan for comfort cooling environments — anywhere that needs reliable, continuous airflow and where downtime means real operational consequences. Here are the facility categories ChopAir clients work with most.
Hospitals & Healthcare
Hospitals operate 24/7, 365 days a year — there is no scheduled downtime. A failed air handler fan can trigger audits, reduce patient capacity, and create compliance exposure. The MPF’s multimotor design eliminates the single point of failure, and its beltless, sealed construction removes a common source of airborne particulates that compromise infection control.
K–12 Schools & Universities
Schools can’t send students home because a fan is down, and universities can’t take research labs or student centers offline mid-semester. Many school air handlers run aging motors that fail unpredictably. The MPF’s modular design lets facility teams swap plug fans in minutes with plug-and-play harnesses — no emergency changeout vendors, no after-hours scramble, no deferred repairs compounding into bigger failures.
Office Buildings
Tenant comfort directly affects occupancy rates and lease renewals. The MPF’s EC motors accept occupancy-based control signals from the BMS, scaling airflow to match actual building load instead of running at full speed around the clock. Lightweight, hand-carryable components mean repairs don’t require heavy lifts or specialized crews, keeping maintenance costs low across multi-story properties.
Data Centers
A downed fan in a data center isn’t just uncomfortable — it’s a risk to hardware and uptime guarantees. The MPF is designed to never fully fail: one motor going down doesn’t stop airflow, and replacement parts ship in days, not weeks. With on-demand performance data through the Premium Control Panel, facilities teams know exactly what the fan is doing before anything becomes a problem.
Warehouses
High-volume warehouses need powerful, consistent airflow across wide floor plates without fail. The MPF’s multimotor design maintains constant airflow regardless of square footage, and multiple fans can be combined to cover the full cross-section of large air handlers serving even the biggest buildings.
Distribution Centers
Distribution centers operate on tight schedules where downtime cascades quickly through the supply chain. Q-PAC’s intelligent motor controls let facilities teams optimize airflow continuously — saving energy and keeping workers comfortable — while resilient fan design means a motor issue doesn’t stop operations while parts are sourced.
Sports Arenas & Stadiums
Athletic events, concerts, and graduations are high-visibility, high-revenue moments that cannot be interrupted. The MPF’s no-single-point-of-failure design means that when 20,000 people are in the building, the air keeps moving. New parts ship within days if needed, so facilities teams aren’t gambling on last-minute fixes before game day.
High Rises & Skyscrapers
Occupied commercial towers can’t tolerate floors going offline for fan repairs. The MPF’s knockdown assembly ships to any floor, fits through standard openings, and can be assembled in under two hours per unit without cranes or heavy lifts. Occupancy-based speed control keeps energy costs under control across every floor of the building.
Airports
Terminal airflow failures affect passenger experience, regulatory compliance, and flight operations simultaneously. The MPF is engineered to never fully go offline — a motor fault triggers automatic compensation from the remaining motors, keeping air moving while a replacement is staged. With Q-PAC’s 48-hour Quick Ship option, replacement parts are never far away.
Government Buildings
Critical work requires a reliable, uninterrupted environment. The MPF runs quietly, maintains steady airflow without the vibration and noise of aging belt-drive systems, and supports the kind of planned maintenance cycles that government facilities teams need. Quiet, reliable, and data-accessible when you need to justify capital spending.
Corporate Campuses
Multi-building campuses mean multiple air handlers to manage, track, and maintain. Q-PAC’s intelligent motor controls let facilities teams optimize airflow independently for each building, any time. Standardized components across the campus reduce inventory requirements and make maintenance faster, whether you’re covering two buildings or twenty.

Controls & Integration
Built-in controls that talk to your building
The Q-PAC MPF is designed for clean, direct integration with your building management system — no intermediary panels required for a basic connection, and full BACnet integration available through the Premium Control Panel. ChopAir helps you choose the right controls package and integrates it with your existing BMS or control infrastructure.
Direct BMS Connection
Connect the Q-PAC MPF directly to your BMS or preferred controller using 3-phase power and a 0–10V speed signal — no external panels, no extra interfaces. Optional Modbus RTU adds system-level feedback including total airflow, individual motor status, and alarm notifications.
BACnet MS/TP & BACnet IP
The Premium Control Panel supports both BACnet MS/TP and BACnet IP, enabling full integration with building automation systems for speed modulation, constant airflow and static pressure modes, and real-time performance monitoring across up to four Q-PAC fans per panel.
Safety Circuit & HOA Integration
Control panels include a dry-contact safety input that connects to fire alarms, smoke detectors, and other interlock devices. When triggered, the circuit immediately overrides normal operation to shut down the fan. A Hand/Off/Auto switch provides manual local control when needed.
On-Demand Performance Data
The Premium Control Panel delivers total airflow, individual motor status, power consumption, and fault alerts in real time from the HMI touchscreen. No additional software licenses, no paywalls — the data is there when your team needs it, and it supports the kind of planned maintenance that keeps fans running for years.
