Product Overview: ChopAir HVHS ChopFan

The ChopFan line of are all perfectly tuned, infinitely variable speed, and are built with the highest quality components available. The new 2025 model’s internal components have received 3rd party independent testing indicating an expected 20+ year lifespan. With ECM technology, the fan speed is infinitely variable, without the use of a VFD. Customers can fine tune exact airflow rates to optimize human and animal comfort. 3rd party energy use and airflow independent testing is conducted at BESS Laboratories at the University of Illinois.

What is an HVHS Fan?

A High Variable High Speed (HVHS) fan is an industrial-grade air movement device. They are designed to deliver powerful and adjustable airflow across large spaces. These fans combine high-speed operation with variable speed control, allowing precise regulation of air volume and velocity based on specific ventilation or cooling needs.

Key Features of an HVHS Fan

  • High-Speed Performance: Operates at elevated RPMs to generate strong airflow, ideal for rapid air circulation or spot cooling
  • Variable Speed Control: Offers adjustable speed settings, typically through electronic controllers or VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives), providing flexibility and energy efficiency
  • Heavy-Duty Construction: Built for demanding environments such as warehouses, factories, gymnasiums, and agricultural facilities
  • Flexibility of Placement: HVHS fans can be placed closer to workstations, equipment, or corners to target specific areas.

Applications for HVHS Fans

  • Cooling personnel or machinery in industrial or commercial settings
  • Improving air turnover and preventing stagnation
  • Supporting HVAC systems by promoting balanced air distribution
  • Enhancing indoor air quality by dispersing fumes or humidity

The Chop24 Airflow Diagram shows the feet per minute specs for the 24” HVHS fan. It also shows the throw to be up to 200’ long and roughly 50-55’ wide

Common HVHS Fan Layout & Airflow Design

A very common design when using these HVHS fans is to place the fans in a “racetrack” design such as the one below

This type of design improves the air circulation and the air balancing inside the building.

Example of an Ineffective HVHS Fan Layout & Airflow Design

If the HVHS fans were all placed facing one direction, the air circulation would suffer.

This type of design does not have any air balancing. The side without the airflow pointed that way would become a dead zone with no airflow. This side with all the airflow will become over pressurized.
